eXceed Virtual ALigner Plan
Exceed Ali Plan. Virtual SetUp for in-office aligners production.
The virtual treatment plan is part of the orthodontic case. Thanks to modern computer technologies it is done today digitally. In this article, we wish to reveal the features of the eXceed virtual ALi Plan and its role in making aligner therapy more affordable to patients.
The process for creating the plan is as follows:

Dental impressions are captured. The impressions may be traditional (digitized later with a stone model and desktop scanner) or digital (made with intra-oral scanners);

Other diagnostic records are also obtained (Xray and intra-oral pictures)

The data is submitted to the eXceed Doctor's account, along with clinical objectives for the case.

The aligner plan is produced by a trained dental technician who went through an intensive 4-month course to become a qualified eXceed Plan Designer.

The plan is then checked by a supervising orthodontist. Only the orthodontist can decide to make the plan available to the customer or send it back to the Plan Designer for further work.

Once the plan is been confirmed, the customer receives a link with it in the communication window – to the doctor's account. This link can be open on any device – desktop or mobile.

As soon as the plan is approved by the customer, a set of 3d files is generated and then communicated back to the customer.

The files are printed with 3d printer and the resulting models are used for aligners’ fabrication.

Let us now discuss the main features of the eXceed Aligner Plan:
1. 3d simulation of teeth movement from pre- to post-treatment. It can be viewed from any angle and at any step.
2. The number of steps necessary to complete the treatment, with a breakdown for the upper and lower arches.
3. Attachments Plan - attachments are helpful to secure necessary movements such as inclination, intrusion, protrusion or distalization. The eXceed Plan prescribes precise details on attachments position and length of use.
4. IPR Instructions - some movements require interproximal reduction (IPR) of the enamel body prior to wearing the relevant aligner. The eXceed ALi Plan includes a detailed IPR protocol specifying where, when and how much reduction is required. Due to their importance, IPR instructions can be found in 3 different locations: a) on the virtual model (see screenshot); b) in the personal doctor account, as a detailed graphic report; and c) on the stickers that attached to the plastic packing bags used to house the individual aligners post-production.
5. Occlusogram - showing the forecasted amount of contact between upper and lower arches, before the and after the treatment. Bite correction is an important element of every orthodontic intervention so this can be a very useful tool.

6. Superimposition - this tool in the eXceed ALi Plan allows morphing the post-treatment simulated result onto the pre-treatment model, allowing the clinician to vividly see the anticipated changes.
