Clear aligners with 3d printing models

The Global Clear Aligner market grows every day. According to the Market Research Future it is going to reach USD 3,982.30 million Revenue by 2023.

More and more doctors and their patients switch from the traditional braces to clear orthodontic aligners. There are several big international players as Invisalign or Clear Correct and there are of course local companies on every national market, like Kline in Germany. They are often called “First Generation Aligner Providers”.

What all these companies have in common? They all sell the final product - produced aligners (clear aligners printing).

What makes eXceed different from them?

Being a “Second Generation Aligner Provider, we do not make you pay for plastic - we charge for the clinical treatment planning only. This allows saving up to 70% on the aligner lab fees - and get more patients.

This approach became possible since 2015 when affordable 3d printers were introduced by companies such as Formlabs.

The 3d printed models for each aligner step can be printed directly in the dental office - saving time and money.

How are clear aligners produced with 3d printed models?

It all starts with a detailed 3d treatment plan where each step represents the next 0.25 mm movement of the particular teeth. For each step, a 3d STL printing file is generated after the plan’s approval. Printed models then are used for vacuum-forming and producing the aligners.

What 3d printers are compatible with eXceed?

eXceed is an open system that works with a wide range of equipment. The most popular models among our clients are Formlabs, Moonray, and Race. 

Do you recommend FDA or SLA printers?

We work with both types, although the printing outcome may vary from one model to another. Due to the broad variety of available models, we are not able to test all of them.

You can always download some Sample STL printing files and send us the pictures oа the printed models per email or Whatsapp. Our Technical department will prove the quality of the models.

Please note that FDA printers usually place the models horizontally and directly on the platform without any supports. Sometimes it is hard to see the case ID and the step number of the model, which is very important when it comes to production.


Which printing methods are used by eXceed?

Our models are normally generated for vertical printing. It allows our clients to reduce printing time and save resin. However, not all cases are suitable for such a method.

  3. Approve the virtual 3d treatment plan

  4. Get STL files for your 3d printer

  5. Produce aligners in your office 

Digitalization became inevitable in the dental sphere. Intraoral scanners, treatment planning, 3d printing allow producing high-quality, precise and affordable dental products. Implants, crowns, bridges, aligners and indirect bonding trays. The list goes on and on.

In the near future, we expect the possibility of direct 3d aligners printing - avoiding the printing of 3d models for every step.
