eXceed Announces New Features, Sirona Bridge

Dear Customers,

Wishing you all a Very Happy New Year! As 2018 unfolds, we are introducing new service features, targeted to make in-office aligners easier and cost-effective than ever.

New Features:

  1. Sirona-eXceed Integration
  2. New recommended foil material
  3. Vertically oriented Print Files
  4. New Case Report

Please also note changes to the eXceed “Office” user agreement, effective Jan. 01. 2019.

1. CEREC-eXceed Connectivity

Now, users of the Omnicam and Bluecam intra-oral scanners from Sirona can share scans with eXceed via Sirona Connect. Please use sironaus@exceed-ortho.com as the connection email. For more details please contact our support desk here . Our team will also be contacting you pro-actively in the following months to offer help with setting up the bridge.

2. Biolon from DREVE is our favorite VF foil

Following extensive testing, we are now recommending Biolon from Dreve as our favorite vacuum forming foil. Offering an excellent mix of retention and elasticity, this sheet typically costs 50% less than our last year’s favorite, Duran+ from Scheu Dental. On average, for a 30-aigner case, this means savings of

$USD 15 off the vacuum forming foil bill.

3. Vertical, Support-Free Print Files

The eXceed print-files build platform has been automated and converted to being support-free. Objectives for this move were as follows:

1.       Reduce print time;

2.       Reduce resin consumption;

3.       Reduce time to create the 3D build platform;

4.       increase number of models contained within a single platform

Using the Form2 printer from FormLabs as a benchmark - the following results have been observed:

Based on the data above, we estimate savings on resin consumption alone to be around $USD 1.2/per aligner. In an average 30-aligner case, this amounts to a $USD 36 reduction in resin bills.

Comment: vertical, support-free printing is not suitable for all cases, for example, when teeth are retroclined or when vertical positioning causes some parts to "float" in air (see below). We estimate that less than 20% of all models are not suitable for this feature. For now, please detect those files and ask us to have them re-oriented. During 2019, we will introduce an add-on feature that will automate vertical vs. horizontal platform build based on case attributes.

4. New Case Report

A new detailed case report is now available for all approved plans including graphic IPR staging, patient records and communication history with the eXceed Design Center.
